Kim So Hyun & Choo Young Woo Team Up for Heartfelt Healing Romance “Romance Expert"

Kim So Hyun and Choo Young Woo are officially joining forces for a brand-new drama!

 

On December 1, ENA announced that the two actors will star in its upcoming series “Romance Expert” (working title). Directed by Ahn Pan Seok—known for iconic romance masterpieces like “Something in the Rain,” “One Spring Night,” and “The Midnight Romance in Hagwon”—the project follows a moving love story between two individuals whose lives were shaken by hardships but who rediscover hope through one another.

 

Choo Young Woo will take on the role of Park Min Jae, a former talented swimmer who lost his right leg due to illness and was forced to abandon his dreams in athletics. Now a robotics PhD student, he moves slowly but steadily, struggling to articulate his emotions—until the driven and passionate Im Yoo Jin enters his world and begins to transform him. Choo shared his excitement, saying,

 

I’m so happy to be part of a project by Director Ahn Pan Seok, whom I greatly respect. I’m preparing hard to approach this work a little more academically,” adding, “With a great script, great actors, and a great crew, I’ll head to meet Min Jae with a happy heart. Please show lots of interest.

 

Choo Young Woo has had an exceptionally busy and successful 2025, starring in four major dramas: the period mystery “Tale of Lady Ok,” the medical thriller “Trauma Code,” the action revenge series “Mercy for None,” and the romantic comedy “Head Over Heels.” Each role showcased his impressive range and solidified him as one of the most in-demand rising actors of the year. His powerful performances also earned him a major milestone—he won Best New Actor at the 2025 Baeksang Arts Awards, marking a breakthrough moment in his career.

 

The actor is also preparing for his first major film role, starring opposite Shin Si A in the upcoming movie Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight scheduled for release in Dec 2025. Expectations are high for the project, with many anticipating another milestone performance from the rising star.

 

Kim So Hyun will portray Im Yoo Jin, a clothing and textiles major struggling to find her direction after exposing an unfair incident in her department—a move that leaves her labeled as a troublemaker and shuts down opportunities for further study. When she encounters Min Jae, a new world opens for her through robotics, and she fearlessly pursues both her research and her growing feelings for him. Kim commented,

 

It is truly an honor just to be working with Director Ahn Pan Seok, and I am very excited. On top of that, Yoo Jin’s bold charm in ‘Romance Expert’ really pulled me in,” adding, “I’ll do my utmost to show viewers my best self and best performance through this project.

 

Earlier in 2025, Kim So Hyun received praise for her role in the boxing-action drama “Good Boy,” where she starred opposite Park Bo Gum. The series was well-received for its gripping emotional depth and powerful chemistry between the leads, further cementing her status as one of Korea’s strongest young actresses.

 

With two award-winning leads and a director known for emotionally rich storytelling, anticipation continues to build for “Romance Expert.”
