Park Eun Bin & Yang Se Jong Join Forces in Supernatural Romance Thriller “Spellbound"
Published on: 2025-11-27
Park Eun Bin and Yang Se Jong are officially teaming up for an upcoming occult romance drama titled “Spellbound” (working title), set to air on tvN in 2026.
The series is a drama adaptation of the 2011 hit film Spellbound, originally led by Son Ye Jin and Lee Min Ki. This new version blends supernatural mystery, investigative storytelling, and an intense romance between two unlikely partners: a fearless hotel heiress who can see ghosts and a principled prosecutor who crosses paths with the paranormal world because of her.
Park Eun Bin transforms into Cheon Yeo Ri, the glamorous and powerful heiress of a major Korean conglomerate and CEO of a luxury hotel. Though she appears to live a flawless life filled with privilege and elegance, she harbors a chilling secret—she has the ability to see ghosts.
Opposite her, Yang Se Jong stars as Ma Gang Wook, a top-tier prosecutor known for his integrity, intelligence, and physical strength. Devoted to justice, he relentlessly follows the truth, no matter how dangerous the path becomes.
Through a chain of fate-like encounters, Yeo Ri and Gang Wook are drawn into each other’s worlds, forming a chaotic yet compelling partnership that evolves into something deeper.
The production team described the project as “an occult romance that explores a fearless woman who lives among ghosts and a man who is forced to confront an unknown realm because of her.” They teased that Yeo Ri’s eerie ability and Gang Wook’s investigative expertise will collide to create suspense, mystery, and emotional payoff.
Park Eun-bin continues to prove her versatility after the success of “Hyper Knife,” a dark and gripping medical crime thriller released in 2025. In the series, she portrayed Jung Se-ok, a once-genius neurosurgeon whose life spirals after losing her medical license, forcing her into the underground world of illegal surgeries. It was a drastic shift from her earlier warm, emotional roles, and audiences praised her fearless performance and ability to balance raw intensity with vulnerability.
Following that dramatic turn, Eun-bin is preparing for another highly buzzed-about project—an upcoming drama with Cha Eunwoo titled The Wonder fools. While details are still limited, the series is expected to take on a lighter, energetic tone, with fans eagerly awaiting the chemistry between the two stars. The contrast between the darker world of Hyper Knife and the more playful vibe of this new production highlights Eun-bin’s dynamic range and her talent for dominating any genre she steps into.
Yang Se-jong, meanwhile, also arrives at Spellbound with a compelling track record. He last drew major attention in “Doona!”, the 2023 Netflix romance opposite Bae Suzy, where he delivered a grounded, emotionally layered portrayal of a reserved college student entangled in an intense connection with a former idol. The success of Doona! marked his strong return to the screen after military service and reestablished him as a leading actor with magnetic subtlety.
He then shifted gears completely with “Low Life” in 2025, a crime-period drama set in 1970s Korea, where he stepped into the role of Oh Hee-dong, a man swept into a dangerous treasure-salvage scheme. The gritty action, retro setting, and morally complex storyline showcased a different side of Yang Se-jong—stretching him far beyond conventional romance and allowing him to explore a tougher, more conflicted character.
Now, with both actors stepping into the supernatural thriller-romance universe of Spellbound, anticipation is already soaring. Their combined resume of emotional depth, intensity, and versatility suggests a drama filled with electricity, mystery, and explosive chemistry.
“Spellbound” is scheduled to premiere in 2026. Stay tuned for more supernatural sparks!
